Inspiration

The Humanitarian Wealth Distribution Fund is based on the Nobel winning concept of micro-finance. The Micro-finance idea was conceptualized as a provider of retail banking services to the poor funded by micro-donations. The donations are then given as low-interest loans to the underprivileged. In 2006, Mohammed Yunus (the founder of the micro-finance concept) along with his novel Grameen Bank were awarded the Nobel Peace prize “for their efforts to create economic and social development from below”. We can proudly say that our organization aligns itself with The Grameen bank’s purpose of neutralizing any and all economic disadvantages the underprivileged face through numerous micro investments.

About Grameen:

Grameen’s borrowers use the loans to start, build and run small businesses. Through these income generating activities and the use of other services offered by Grameen Bank, such as savings programs and financial education, borrowers are able to increase their assets, protect themselves and their families against risks, and ultimately attain economic self-sufficiency. The bank has also been recognized for attaining a 99% return to its investors (spread across the world).

The Humanitarian Wealth Distribution Fund, like Grameen Bank, is based on providing capital to those who are in need. However, we consider ourselves to be a second generation micro-finance entity. Grameen Bank is a retail small loans lender offering services such as; collateral-free lending, savings programs, credit establishment services, financial education and remittance services, whereas our organization is a micro investment institution providing interest free grants to organizations and public service projects in need. We are a third party financial enabler. We do not believe in charging interest to our recipients nor do we demand to receive charitable donations from individuals. Our grants are funded solely by interest revenue collected from numerous individual investments.

The organization, the board and staff members would also like to extend our sincerest thanks to Mr Yunus for his philanthropic contributions and his never ending desire to end economic inequality throughout the world.
